Dimensions and limits
Default dimensions of the template and the permitted range in mm.
| Dimension | Default | Range |
|---|---|---|
| Length | 300 mm | 50–1,200 mm |
| Width | 200 mm | 50–1,200 mm |
| Height | 200 mm | 50–1,200 mm |
Parameters of this construction
4 parameters with default value and limits, adjustable in the editor.
| Parameter | Default | Range | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
Glue flapglueFlap | 35 mm | 20–60 mm | Width of the glue flap used to glue the blank into a tube. The material requires a minimum width. |
Glue flap angleglueFlapAngle | 15° | 0–20° | Bevel at the ends of the glue flap; facilitates folding and erection. |
Flap gapflapGap | 5 mm | 0–12 mm | Gap between neighboring flaps or walls; at least approximately the material thickness. |
Outer flap gapouterFlapGap | 50 mm | 0–600 mm | Distance between the free edges of the two outer flaps in the center of the opening (0 = the outer flaps meet); each outer flap remains at least 20 mm high. |
Assembly
Glue or stitch the glue flap to the opposite wall. Erect for filling, fold in the inner bottom flaps until they meet in the center, place the outer flaps over them, and tape; do the same at the top.
Grain direction
Grain direction parallel to height (check)

Frequently asked questions about this template
Which flaps meet in the center?
The inner flaps on the sides close the entire opening and meet at its center. The front and back outer flaps sit above them. Their edges leave a 50 mm gap in the starting example. Do not confuse this gap with the slots between adjacent flaps.
Can I close the outer flap gap completely?
outerFlapGap can be 0 mm; the outer flaps then also meet in the center. The inner flaps remain underneath. This changes the visible print area and closure. Recalculate after the change and check both material layers and taping on the erected sample.
How large can the gap be?
The general range extends to 600 mm. In practice, outerFlapGap.geometric.keepsOuterFlap limits the gap based on the narrow side of the opening so each outer flap retains at least 20 mm. These 20 mm are a construction limit, not confirmation for your taping or production process.
Why does a long box need long inner flaps?
The inner flaps close the opening from the sides to the center. A longer box requires them to reach farther. This increases the flat blank size even when the width stays small. Check the bounding box against sheet size and the folding sequence on the sample; the starting example does not guarantee arbitrary proportions.
