Corrugated

Overlap slotted container

Corrugated slotted container whose outer flaps overlap at the top and bottom along the entire length of the opening; overlap is adjustable (up to full overlap) and stiffens the lid and bottom.

Glue flapglueFlap35 mm20–60 mmWidth of the glue flap used to glue the blank into a tube. The material requires a minimum width.

Assembly

Glue or stitch the glue flap to the opposite wall. Erect for filling, fold in the inner bottom flaps, place the back outer flap over them first and then the front flap, and glue, staple, or tape within the overlap strip; do the same at the top.

Labels such as “similar to FEFCO” or “ECMA family, unconfirmed” are for orientation only. The templates are our own constructions; an assignment to a standard code is unconfirmed and not a trademark claim.

Frequently asked questions about this template

What does outerFlapOverlap measure?

The parameter measures the width of the strip where the two outer flaps overlap. It applies at the top and bottom; the starting example uses 50 mm. It describes neither the side seam glue flap nor an artwork safety margin. Check the closure area separately from the tube joint.

Why isn't 600 mm allowed for every box?

600 mm is the general upper parameter limit. The constraint also calculates the geometric limit from the narrow side of the opening and material-dependent flap shortening. A narrow box allows less overlap. Values within the table can therefore still trigger a finding and need adjustment.

Is this the same construction as full overlap?

Both constructions overlap outer flaps. Here, the overlap strip is set using outerFlapOverlap. The full overlap slotted container covers the entire opening with each outer flap and has no such parameter. Choose the ID for the required closure and check coverage on the real box.

Where is the box glued?

The glue flap first closes the box body into a tube. During filling, the bottom flaps are closed; the overlap strip is glued, stapled, or taped. The same sequence applies at the top. The material minimum for the side glue flap says nothing about the suitability of the selected closure in the overlap strip.
