Frequently asked questions about this template

What do width and height mean for the oval?

They are the ellipse's two axes and determine the finished size at the cut edge. The values do not describe circumference. In the example, the 80-mm axis is horizontal and the 50-mm axis vertical. Cut length is determined from the curved outline.

Can I create a vertical ellipse?

Yes. Choose a height larger than the width, both within 10–300 mm. The template forms the outline from these axes. Check artwork orientation separately on the artwork and actual product; changing the axes does not automatically rotate your artwork to match.

Can the oval also have rounded corners?

No. An ellipse has no rectangular corners. A corner radius other than 0 is rejected during construction. If you need straight sides and rounded transitions, choose the rectangular label with a suitable corner radius and check the resulting shape.

Why does the knife profile matter for a narrow oval?

Curvature varies along an ellipse. When axes differ greatly, tighter curves form at the ends of the long axis. MFG-002 compares local curvature with the machine profile. A geometrically valid oval therefore does not yet provide tool approval.
