Parameters of this construction

6 parameters with default value and limits, adjustable in the editor.

ParameterDefaultRangeNote
Flap gapflapGap5 mm1–12 mmGap between neighboring flaps or walls; at least approximately the material thickness.
Closure flap depthclosureFlapDepth30 mm20–100 mmDepth of the closure flap glued to the outside of the front wall; no deeper than the front wall is high.
Closure adhesive stripsealStripWidth15 mm10–40 mmWidth of the self-adhesive strip on the closure flap (5 mm margin to the edge).
Lid end flapsendFlapRatio90 %50–100 %Length of the lid end flaps as a proportion of height; they lie over the end walls on the outside.
Additional creasesextraCreases20–3Number of additional crease lines per wall (multiple creases): for thinner contents, fold at these instead of the nominal position.
Multiple crease spacingcreaseSpacing10 mm10–30 mmSpacing of the additional crease lines; at least the machine's crease spacing, together at most half the height.

Assembly

Place the contents on the bottom, erect the front and back walls and end walls – for thinner contents, fold at one of the additional crease lines. Close the lid, place the lid end flaps over the end walls on the outside, remove the release liner, and press the closure flap onto the outside of the front wall.

Grain direction

Flute direction parallel to the bottom, wall, and lid creases: the circumferential folds and multiple creases pre-break cleanly (check with the test print shop).

Reference note

Reference family described in the catalog; exact classification pending.

Labels such as “similar to FEFCO” or “ECMA family, unconfirmed” are for orientation only. The templates are our own constructions; an assignment to a standard code is unconfirmed and not a trademark claim.

Frequently asked questions about this template

Are the additional creases continuously adjustable?

No. The parameter sets zero to three additional lines per wall, with shared crease spacing. During packing, you choose an existing line. This is a discrete folding choice. Adapt the base height to the thickest contents and check thinner contents at the intended additional creases.

Why are two additional creases invalid at a low height?

Count multiplied by crease spacing may occupy at most half the inside height. This leaves sufficient wall height in the model. The constraint halfDepth suggests a lower count when there are too many creases. Check count and spacing together; the parameter range alone does not guarantee a suitable combination.

How do the ends close?

First, erect the end walls at the bottom. After closing the lid, the lid end flaps lie over them on the outside. endFlapRatio controls their length as a proportion of height. Test the overlap also when folding at an additional crease, because thinner contents change the final fit.

Does the wraparound packaging have a tear strip?

For this type, V1 provides a closure flap and self-adhesive strip. A tear strip is not among the available parameters. The flap is glued to the outside of the front wall. If a defined opening aid is required, check a suitable shipping box type and its production sample.

Which dimensions do I enter for a book?

Length and width describe the contents, height their thickness in the chosen dimension reference. The starting example is 240 × 170 × 40 mm. Allow for the book cover and filling clearance. The calculated blank is cross-shaped and therefore has different bounding dimensions from the closed package.
