ParameterDefaultRangeNote
Front heightfriesFrontHeight85 mm30–200 mmHeight of the lower front from the bottom; 30 to 90 % of back wall height. The sides slope in straight lines from the back wall to this height.
Bottom stylefriesBottomtucktuck · gluedTuck bottom (bottom flap with tuck flap, closes without adhesive) or glued bottom (bottom tab glued to the inside of the back wall, sealed and stable).
Glue flapglueFlap12 mm8–25 mmWidth of the glue flap used to glue the blank into a tube. The material requires a minimum width.
Glue flap angleglueFlapAngle12°0–20°Bevel at the ends of the glue flap; facilitates folding and erection.
Tuck depthtuckDepth12 mm8–30 mmHow far the tuck flap reaches into the box; at most approximately half the width (the height for the mailer). For this scoop, no more than half the depth.
Tuck flap radiustuckRadius3 mm0–10 mmCorner radius of the tuck flap; limited by half the flap width or tuck depth.
Tuck flap shouldertuckShoulder3 mm2–6 mmSide inset of the tuck flap relative to the lid, allowing easy insertion.
Dust flap length (ratio)dustFlapRatio60 %30–90 %Dust flap length as a ratio of the available length.
Dust flap angledustFlapAngle10°0–30°Bevel of the dust flaps (also the ears on the mailer); larger angles prevent collisions during folding.
Dust flap reliefdustFlapReliefExpert2 mm1–5 mmClearance between dust flap and lid along the crease; at least the material thickness. The machine requires a minimum slot width. At least the material thickness.

Assembly

Pre-break all creases in the blank, glue the glue flap to the inside of the back wall, and lay the scoop flat. Erect for filling, fold in dust flaps, and close the bottom flap: For a tuck bottom, insert the tuck flap inside against the back wall; for a glued bottom, glue the bottom tab to the inside of the back wall.

Grain direction

Grain direction parallel to height: Wall creases fold neatly and the tall back wall stays stiff (check with a test print shop).

Frequently asked questions about this template

Which width does length mean?

Length means the scoop's front width, width means its depth from front to back wall. Height is the back wall height. Front height is a separate parameter. This mapping matters for an open scoop: The same outside rectangle says little about the filling opening.

How low can the front be?

The parameter allows 30 to 200 mm, but also only 30 to 90 % of the respective back wall height. Both limits apply together. The M example has an 85 mm front with a 120 mm back wall. If you enter a different height, recheck front height; the sides slope in straight lines to this value.

What does the glued bottom change?

With the tuck bottom, a tuck flap engages inside against the back wall. With the glued bottom, the bottom tab is glued to the back wall, with dust flaps underneath. friesBottom selects the construction. The tuck bottom also requires the glued side seam. Check assembly and bottom retention with the planned contents instead of comparing only the flat outline.

Can I scale S and L from the M blank?

The documented inside dimensions are S 70 × 30 × 100 mm and L 95 × 40 × 140 mm. Their front heights are 70 and 100 mm respectively. Recalculate these dimension sets. Material thickness, flap widths, and relief cuts do not scale proportionally; they must still match the material profile and available interior space.

What does the dust flap relief at the bottom do?

dustFlapRelief leaves clearance between dust flap and bottom flap along the crease. This clearance must account for at least the material thickness. The machine also evaluates narrow material-free notches with MFG-004. A smaller value does not automatically save area usefully: Check whether flaps fold without collisions and the manufacturer can cut this location.
