3 parameters with default value and limits, adjustable in the editor.

ParameterDefaultRangeNote
Flare anglepopcornFlare6°3–20°Outward wall slope relative to vertical; the bottom is 2 × height × tan(angle) shorter and narrower than the opening and remains at least 30 mm wide.

Glue flap angleglueFlapAngle15°0–30°Bevel at the ends of the glue flap; facilitates folding and erection.

Assembly

Pre-break all creases in the blank and glue the side seam to the inside of the back wall. Apply adhesive to bottom tabs, swing the bottom into place, and press the tabs against the inside of front and sides. The box then stands open and can be nested.

Grain direction

Grain direction parallel to height: Wall creases fold neatly and the tall walls stay stiff (check with a test print shop).

Frequently asked questions about this template

Is 110 × 75 mm the bottom size?

No. In the starting example, these values describe the top inside opening. The outward-sloping walls make the bottom smaller. Height and flare angle determine the difference in both directions. If a particular footprint is required, check the calculated bottom and erected sample; opening dimensions alone are insufficient.

Why is a greater slope rejected?

The bottom must retain at least 30 mm inside dimensions on both sides. A tall box with a small opening may fall below this limit even at an angle within the parameter range. popcornFlare.bottomMinimum checks this relationship. Reduce the slope or change the opening; the individual values are not independently permissible.

How is the bottom closed?

The construction uses a glued bottom with three bottom tabs. After gluing the side seam, swing the bottom into place and press the tabs against the inside of front and sides. There is no selectable tuck bottom. Check adhesive application, assembly sequence, and bottom retention in actual board because the calculated model does not evaluate the real adhesive bond.

Can I nest the boxes?

The open shape with outward-flared walls is intended for nesting. The catalog describes nesting after assembly. Exact stack height and separating the boxes depend on material, gluing, and slope, however. These values are not promised.

Why doesn't a large flap angle always fit?

The flap angle depends on the sloping wall and available free edge. The model requires a minimum angle matching the wall slope and checks further geometric limits. Arbitrarily increasing it may change the glue area. Check angle and flap width together so side seam and bottom tabs overlap sufficiently when erected.
