Assembly

Glue window film inside onto the film margin around the window (window patching machine). Prebreak the blank along all creases, glue the glue flap to the inside of the back wall, and flatten the carton. Erect for filling, fold in the dust flaps, and insert the tuck flaps.

Grain direction

Grain direction parallel to the height as for the tuck end carton: wall creases fold cleanly, and the front remains stiff along its height despite the window (check with the test print shop).

Frequently asked questions about this template

Is the window part of the straight tuck end carton?

carton.window is a separate template ID. The straight tuck end carton retains its own construction status. This template adds a front cutout with a film margin and geometric conditions. Select it explicitly when the viewing window is part of the construction; a cutout drawn afterward would not have these parameter checks.

Why doesn't the desired window fit in the front?

Window width and height, together with the film margin and at least a 3 mm bridge, must fit between the creases. An off-center position reduces clearance on one side. The table ranges therefore apply only together with dimensional constraints. Reduce the window or change its position and check the remaining bridges on the sample.

What does the film margin change?

filmMargin is the gluing area around the window cutout on the inside. A larger margin does not change the visible window size but requires more room in the front panel. Confirm the required gluing area with the manufacturer applying the film. The calculated margin confirms neither adhesive bonding nor the suitability of a particular film.

Can I choose an oval instead of a rectangle?

Yes. windowShape offers rectangle and oval. The corner radius belongs to the rectangular window shape; window width and height determine the extent of both shapes. The oval must also fit in the front panel with its film margin and minimum bridge. Check the stability of the remaining board and film gluing after erection.
